How to Update Lexmark Impact S305 Firmware

You are probably wondering what in the world a Firmware is and why you need to update if you have a Lexmark Inkjet Printer . Well to answer your questions and help other Lexmark users we researched some definitions and steps on how to do it fast and easy.

  • Wikipedia Firmware Definition: "Firmware is typically involved with very basic low-level operations without which a device would be completely non-functional. Most computer peripherals are themselves special-purpose computers. While external devices have firmware stored internally, as of 2010 modern graphics cards and peripheral expansion cards often have parts of the firmware loaded by the host system at start-up, as this provides greater flexibility. Such hardware may therefore fail to function fully until the host computer has "fed" it the requisite firmware, typically via a specific device driver (more exactly: via a start-up subsystem within a device driver package)."

Basically what Wikipedia says is that a Firmware is a software code stored in your Lexmark Printer to give it orders on how to function properly. Lexmark is continually upgrading Firmware for a better printing experience, by up upgrading you can either correct or improve your printers’ performance along with adding additional features.

How to Upgrade Firmware?

It is best to go to Lexmark own Tech Support site to get the download instructions and original Firmware.

UK Government Cuts Cost on Black Toner Cartridges

According LocalGov.com.uk some parts of Government had been paying seven and a half times more for standard black toner cartridges than others. Cabinet office minister Francis Maude added: ‘We are only at the start of this cost cutting drive. But in total, these initiatives will save the British taxpayer £3bn just in this financial year.”

If the government is taking a stand on high prices for toner cartridges it is only fair to take a look at our purchase options for black toner cartridges and how to save on printing. Let us share the different toner cartridge options and what purchasing practices are best.

  • OEM Toner Cartridges: Original Equipment Manufacturer cartridges and have been specifically manufactured to undoubtedly perform outstandingly. Original cartridges are guaranteed by the brand and ensure you that you’ll get the right results. Prices are higher twice as high than the other type of toner cartridges so it really depends on the type of brand to see the cost.

  • Compatible Toner Cartridges: Compatible cartridges are made by third-party manufacturer other than the original printer manufacturer and are compatible to the printer needs. These compatible cartridges meet or exceed OEM specifications 100% and are brand new; they yield excellent output and allow for big savings over OEM printer ink, inkjet cartridges or laser toner cartridges.

  • Remanufactured Toner Cartridges: Remanufactured cartridges are original cartridges which have been used and returned, factory cleaned, refilled to max capacity then tested for reliability. The remanufacturing process checks for the integrity of the cartridge housing as well as integrated nozzle, electronics circuits, replace drum, then filled with exacting ink or toner formulations. All remanufactured cartridges are thoroughly tested after assembly to ensure it meets or exceeds OEM standards. Remanufactured cartridges allows you to take a green stand towards environmental saving practices and helps you keep OEM cartridges from thousands of years of waiting to disintegrate in wastelands.

  • Online purchasing vs Supplies Stores: Purchasing online has become more popular than actually going to a supply store to purchase toner cartridges. It is easier to find exactly what you are looking for and you can compare prices, guarantees, shipping cost etc.

How to Clean Your Lexmark Printer

It’s wonderful having an all-in-one Lexmark printer. You can fax, scan and print with just one machine. This means a lot less maintenance. But to keep it operating smoothly, and not have to spend time and money on future repairs, it’s vital you clean it regularly. It’s easy to clean. First get your supplies. You’ll need a soft cloth, a lint-free cotton cloth, cotton swabs and isopropyl alcohol.
  1. You want to start with the cover of your printer. Wipe it down with a soft cloth. If you find a stubborn spot, you can use a little of a neutral cleaner.
  2. Now get to the glass area of the printer. Don’t put too much pressure on the glass, and wipe in a circular motion. Use the alcohol on the cloth but don’t get it too wet. Wipe clear of any excess liquid.
  3. You can dampen the lint-free cloth with water to wipe off the touch screen.
  4. Now to tackle the automatic document feeder. Lift it all the way up and using the lint-free cloth with a little alcohol, clean the rollers, gently turning them as you clean them.
  5. There’s a rail that moves the lens across the document when printing. Use a cotton swab moistened with alcohol to clean this.
Do this procedure every three months or so to accomplish effective preventative maintenance. To continue to get high quality print jobs and save money at the same time, you can purchase compatible or remanufactured cartridges from Inkjetsuperstore.co.uk. We offer great prices, excellent quality cartridges, and back them all with a one-year full money back guarantee.
